INSPIRATION
↓
I researched other popular matcha brands, focusing on their color schemes and typography. I examined brands that sell their matcha in tins and pouches to see how Matcha Café Maiko could excel at both.
BRAIN
STORMING
When thinking of a color scheme, I felt including 1-2 shades of green was a given.
As for fonts, I really liked Crafti & Yōko's more contemporary/modern fonts.
I wanted this rebrand to have somewhat softer colors, and have a "trendy" font.
UPDATED LOGO
EXPLAINED
Color Scheme: I wanted to center the colors around Phthalo Green (#123524) because it's a deep and rich color that also evokes coziness and nostalgia. I then chose another lighter green for a monochromatic look, a beige color that would work well in backgrounds, and two brown colors in varying brightnesses to accent the greens.
Symbol:The symbol the text resembles a whisk, which is what is typically used to create matcha-based drinks. I wanted the icon to be something easily recognizable that tied back into matcha, similar to the kanji characters and leaf in the original logo.
Two gradient options from top to bottom: light green to dark green or dark green to light green.
Logo would appear primarily on cup sleeves when serving cold or iced drinks.
